Blogsome for Idiots Guide?

I really need some sort of idiots guide to working this site. I just wanted a place to post rules to my mini-challenges so here I am. Of course I can’t figure out how to link to the first challenge I posted. Nor can I figure out how to allow comments on the rules. Ugh.

This is the link to the Asylum Challenge rules (still in tweaking stage):

Asylum

If you have any feedback you could always try telepathy. You’ll figure out how to do that sooner than I’ll figure out this site.

  1. Several of us over at Sim_Swap (a collaborative game play of the Sims2 - feel free to check it out and join if you like) have been playing the Asylum. I think 6 of us altogether have/had asylums. If you’re interested, check out Forums, General, Asylum and you can find links to read our Asylum stories if you’re interested to see how your challenge is working out. Mine was a disaster by fires, but some are doing very well. We would also love to link to your site on our home page www.freewebs.com/sim_swap/ if you will link back to us. Please let me know. 4. Thanks for a fun Challenge!! I think I have the longest running Asylum at 50-55 Days(I lost track at the end). My final score was -70 because all my inmates died of old age(as did my controlled Sim before she got her LTW). I had a blast playing!! I kept track thru stories(which can be found on my SimPage at the Sims2 site(I’m cassblonde there) or in the General section at the forum on the Sim Swap site(www.freewebs.com/sim_swap) a lot of us there have played this challenege(as FarieFire mentioned) I think there are about a dozen plaing/have finished now. Thanks agian!! Cass:)

  5. This challenge looks amazing :)
I’m gonna give it a go because my Legacy has reached a stale point & this looks to be a great way to make the sims fun again. Thanks!

  6. Hi, just wanted to say I loved your challenge. Just completed it with a score of 54. Great fun and I have learned lots about free will and the limits of sims. Thanks very much :-)

  7. My only issue with this challenge is that Fortune sims can roll a LTW to own five rank 10 businesses. As they can’t leave the lot except to go to a normal job, they’d fail from the start.

Should I assume that if you get stuck with a LTW that’s impossible you can reroll it using testing cheats or any of the several mods available that’ll do this for you? (I also assume this is why you left out family for the controllable sim…?)

  8. I was away for a few months so excuse me for not answering any questions previously.

Nicole, you could leave the lot for your business as that would be your job. But honestly, I would just reroll it. I think you should play however you most enjoy the game. And I haven’t really enjoyed businesses. I like my sims poor and mostly unemployed.

And yes, I left off family as most the ltw’s were unachievable. :D

  9. Hi Scout,

I loved your ASylum Challenge when I did it awhile back. I have recently started a podcast or talkcast about sims 2 challenges. The reason I’m telling you this is I had hoped to discuss your challenge on an upcoming episode and I would very much like it if you would consider joining us over the internet. If you follow the URL I gave above you can listen to the first episode and we are going to be having one tomorrow night to discuss the Prosperity Challenge if you’d like to see what it’s all about. All you need to participate is a free talkshoe account and a touch tone phone or VOIP. If you could please let me know whether you are interested or not and if you have any questions, I would greatly appreciate it.

  10. Hi, I’ve just loved your asylum challenge, Are you planning on updating it?
I put down an alternative set of rules for Pets and OFB for you to think about updating. Credit goes to you though but only few rules were made here to fit the theme of the challenge
(Boolprop/forums/challenges or something simular to that/ and obviously asylum challenge by the way its www.boolprop.com)
Hope you like the alternative rules!

  11. This challenge was so much fun! I ended up with a score of 212 points. Three Sims died (the first two from a fire while I was at work and the third was frightened to death by one of the ghosts). Oh and you know what was really annoying? When Sims would relax on beds, not allowing other Sims in energy desperation to sleep.

  12. This is the first challenge I ever did and it was a lot of fun. thanks for coming up with it. My controllable sim died of old age before reaching LTW (one promo left!). The LTW was to make it to the top of the politics career. My only comment is that now, with all the occupations available, that you be allowed to use the computer to find a job. I found that politics NEVER came up in the newspaper. My Sim was half way through adulthood when I finally bought a computer for the sole purpose of looking for a job. I would delete the computer & desk immediately after searching for a job. After two days with the computer, I was able to get my Sim into politics. But alas valuable time had been wasted, and we had 1 ghost by then, which pretty much doomed the rest of the uncontrollables to death because they were unable to sleep or eat without being scared to death! It seems that ones you get one ghost the deaths start piling up! Still had a lot of fun and will probably try it again someday. Thanks again.

  13. I tried this challenge. But had to stop when something wacky went wrong with my game (the screen got stuck on drift, and I couldn’t get back to my sims!)

I have a question. Can you replace things burned in fires? Because my sims burned down the whole darn kitchen! And now they have to wait for my controlable sim to get home and order pizza in order to eat. Ive have 2 die in the fire, and 3 more starve!

  14. Hi, great challenge! My first ever, it looked short enought that I wasn’t daunted :D I was lucky to roll a knowledge sim who only wanted top Science career, and further lucky that the first fire left a burnt meal on the stove that for some reason no sim ever removed. I did try to distract them by serving them decent food, but alas 2 died of starvation when I went to work and forgot to restock the fridge ;(

Anyway, finished it with 6 days of adulthood left with a score of 269, so I *know* I’d have a shot at 350 if I had just kept em all alive, and then pointwhored a bit more - oh well… Anyway, thanks for creating it!

  15. I believe that my Legacy has reached a point in which it might be lost forever, so I’m thinkin’ about trying this. It seems, uh, interesting? Whee! :)

  16. I tried the Asylum challenge. I got very frustrated when one day (about two game weeks in) just as I was driving off in my carpool, there was a fire that killed three of my Sims. Since that event I gave up on the strict rules of the challenge and have been tweaking my asylum a bit.

I don’t see how one is supposed to handle fires and keep one’s hands off the seven patients. They don’t call the fire department on their own. At least if my controlled Sim had been at home asleep, I could have awakened him and called the Fire Department.

The next time I try it, I think I will bend the rules a little and see if I like that better. What I plan to do is to have the stove in a room that I can lock when I go to work and unlock when I get home.

For the current Asylum, my controlled Sim still hasn’t made his LTW. Since there was space in the asylum, he had his girlfriend move in. It seemed appropriate because she is such a slob that she eats out of garbage cans. I looked my surviving Sims over and because one was a Family Sim and I had gotten frustrated with the rules, I had a fellow patient impregnate her.

  20. This was my first challenge and I thought it was great. I’m still taking part (on day 7) and all my sims are still alive which is a good sign. I rolled Knowledge and my sim’s LTW is to reach the top of Medical which is alright i guess.
Haa my hardest times have been when six patients are waiting outside the toilet at the same and when the fridge ran out and i didn’t notice (at work or something) so I had to call the pizza and grocery deliveries straight away.
    Thanks

  21. Lasted 1 sim week. 6 died of fire, 1 died of starvation and I died of fright. (A ghost popped out of the shower/tub when she was in a bad mood.) Loved the challenge. It was fun watching them burn. Nearly fell in love with the surviving roommate. She made something and ended up burning the kitchen down after I went to work.

  22. Just stumpled upon your challenge.
I think I’m gonna try it on Sims3. It should be easier than Sims2, since Free Will have been improved a lot :)
When I’m done, I’ll tell how well I did.

  23. First I’ll say that I love this challenge. It definitely is a learning experience though. First, I made the cardinal mistake of putting the toilet and the shower in the same room, and not only that, but I put them in such a horrible layout in the bathroom that they would get stuck in the room when 4 or 5 other sims poured into the room.

Then, set up the kitchen in a way where, on the third fire the idiot inmates started, they blocked my way from getting into the kitchen to put out the fire, and I think 4 sims died. The remaining 3 died from ghost scare, or starvation, or something.

I went a few days and then got bored, and since I pretty much failed anyways, I decided to make my own rules and decided that, after the inmates died, I would restock the hospital with new inmates….. And that was a terrible idea. By the time my guy finished his LTW of being a professional party guest, I had about 45 tombstones on the lot. And he only almost died once when three ghosts scared me in a row.
